Dhanteras & Naraka Chaturdasi Puja

Dhanteras

Dhanteras marks the beginning of the grand Diwali festival. From utensils to precious metals like Gold and Silver, people usually buy something new on Dhanteras. We welcome the Goddess Lakshmi by lighting Diyas on the corridors. Whole house is decorated with lights and divas. We also offer a Bhog made with Jaggery and is distributed amongst the family members as prasad.

Naraka Chaturdasi / Kali Chaudas

Naraka Chaturdasi also known as Kali Chaudas is a Hindu festival which falls on Chaturdasi (14th day) of the Krishna Pasha. It is the second day of the five-day-long festival of Diwali. The Hindu literature narrates that the asura (demon) Narakasura was killed on this day by Lord Krishna, Goddess Satyabhama and Goddess Kali. The day is celebrated by early morning religious rituals and festivities followed on. The puja is performed with oil, flowers and sandalwood.
