Ganesh Chaturti

10:09:00 PM

Ganesh Chaturti is the Hindu festival celebrated in the honor of the elephant-headed God, Ganesha. Chaturti means the fourth day. Celebrations are held on the second fortnight in the month of Bhaadrapada in the Hindu calendar, usually in the month of August or September. This is very auspicious day celebrated to pray the God, so that every new activity that is to be started will be successfully completed without any obstacles. At home, a clay idol is placed and worshipped with family and friends. On 11th day, the idol is immersed in a large body of water such as sea, river or a lake.

On this occasion I wore this beautiful saree from Chennai Silks. The decorations didn't take much time, but preparing prasadam (is a material substance of food that is a religious offering to God, which is normally consumed by the worshippers) took nearly 6 to 7 hours. I offered 4 types of laddus like Moong Dal Laddu, Urad Dal Laddu, Besan Laddu, Motichoor Laddu, Dryfruits Modak, Lemon Rice, Sundal, Sambar, White Rice, Mixed Vegetable curry, Masala Vada, Chakri, Mixture and Fruits.
